Parents and Friends

As parents and friends of singles, we all have the same objective; to help our children and friends find their life partner as easily as possible.

Made in Heaven offers Shiurim on all topics relating to shidduch issues, with world class speakers.

We suggest that you go to the Sasson V’Simcha website, where you will find a virtual treasure trove of advice on a whole range of topics. Trust us, you need to visit this website and find out how you can maximise you friends/child’s dating potential.

The Made in Heaven Mishmeres

Organised by Natalie Lesser, the Made in Heaven Mishmeres, is a group of women and singles who meet every other week to hear different speakers give a talk on the topic of Shmiras Halashon. Click here to read the letter from Rebbetzin Kanievsky.

The group also take upon themselves one hour a day to keep Shmiras Halashon in zchuss that one member of the gathering should find their zivug. Every fortnight a new single’s hebrew name is chosen.

L’chaim Shidduch meetings

Mrs. Beverly Gross of Monsey, New York, created L’chaim International in direct response to what is now called ‘the Shidduch crisis. Basically, L’chaim advocates a group of women (ideally no more than 6) getting together at least once a month to present profiles of singles, without names, so there is no Loshon Horah involved. If someone listening thinks that they know someone for the person mentioned, she will approach the speaker, after the meeting and discuss it further. (By the way, men can have Shidduch meetings too!) When done correctly, it is a very beautiful and tznius way of going about making Shidduchim.

For your first meeting Made in Heaven will send a representative to help you, after that every time you have a meeting you should call the Made in Heaven office to inform them of the success of the meeting and the times and dates of future meetings. Every so often someone from another group will join you (or you could go to another group to present your group’s profiles) so your group will constantly be getting new, fresh profiles. In addition, the Made in Heaven office will follow up if there are suggestions made, to ensure that a great Shidduch idea actually goes through.

L’chaim has found it beneficial to determine which denomination of singles (i.e. Ages 19-26, yeshivish or modern orthodox) a meeting will be for; so as to be able to really focus and have the people attending prepare the profiles of the singles they would like to present. Enclosed you will find a general profile form which is only a guideline of information that one should present at a meeting. Each presenter should only take up three minutes time maximum, for each single presented. Once again, if someone feels that they would like to know more about the single presented they can ask the presenter privately, after the meeting.

We live in a relatively small community and even though there inevitably will be singles profiles that everyone around the table will recognise, we must really stress not mentioning it, to protect the singles identity and dignity.

Made in Heaven also offers access to professionals and rabbis who can provide assistance and answers to any difficulties arising in the Shidduch process.

Please feel free to contact us with any queries.

Thank you for joining us in this very special mitzvah!
